At The Earth's Core (Plate IV)
Originally published in "Master of Adventure: The Worlds of Edgar Rice Burroughs" (1965), this artwork later found its place as Plate IV in "Opar Press Presents Burroughs Artist Frank Frazetta" in 1968. Esteemed critics have hailed this piece as some of Frazetta's most exquisite ink work.
This artwork holds a significant position as part of the inaugural Frank Frazetta Portfolio, which predates the Middle Earth's Frank Frazetta Portfolio by five years. The portfolio consisted of eight double-sided 11x15 inch plates, featuring a collection of 16 black and white Frazetta illustrations. It was published in 1968 by Camille Cazedessus, Jr., the renowned publisher of the long-standing Edgar Rice Burroughs fanzine ERB-dom, The Fantasy Collector (later known as The Fantastic Collector), and Pulpdom.
