Gollum Print
Frank Frazetta’s “Gollum" (1973)
The original artwork was created with oil on pressboard and measures 12x16 inches.
Frank Frazetta's take on "Gollum" from J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Hobbit, and its sequel The Lord of the Rings is amazingly moody and perfectly captures the menacing, greedy little soul of the Hobbit once known as Smeagol. Frazetta, a master of creating his own palette, used browns and dark greens to make a melancholic, eerie ill-lit subterranean cave pool in which readers first meet him.
